Chapter 12 – Dirty

The fact that Yu Xi and Tao Yitong were able to get to know each other and even become close friends before was completely due to Jiang Jingbai. Tao Yitong and Jiang Jingbai lived in the same complex and knew each other since they were kids, so she was one of Jiang Jingbai’s only friends. In the past, Yu Xi thought that since she was Jiang Jingbai’s friend, then she had to be her friend as well.

This was her naïve idea.

So very quickly, she developed a good relationship with Tao Yitong.  

Tao Yitong and Jiang Jingbai’s personality are entirely different. Tao Yitong loved to smile, and although she’s not talkative, her personality isn’t cold either. Her manner’s mild and gentle from the beginning to the end and she has the demeanor of a caring older sister. Yu Xi remembered that in the beginning of meeting her, she said to Jiang Jingbai more than once, “Look at how outgoing your friend is. What is the difference between you and a closed book?

Jiang Jingbai didn’t say anything and only watched her smile. In the end, she replied, “Of course there’s a difference.”

At the time, she hugged Jiang Jingbai’s arm, “Then why don’t you tell me what the difference is?”

Perhaps it was because the wind that day was too gentle or perhaps it was because the sunshine that day was too warm, but she stared at Yu Xi for a long time before pulling her into the corner and lowering her head to whisper into her ears, “This is the difference.”

And then she kissed her.

That was their first kiss.

At the time, she was stunned for a long time before finally reacting. By the time she recovered, Jiang Jingbai was still looking at her. Driven by desire, she picked up the courage to pull Jiang Jingbai’s hand up and pressed her against the wall. Learning from the male leads on television, she wanted to give her an unforgettable French kiss.

Afterwards, that piece of memory really was unforgettable.

Because that day, she was kissed until her legs grew soft.

It was obviously everyone’s first time, yet Jiang Jingbai was as skilled as someone with experience. Sure enough, smart people are able to get anything right with only a little bit of practice, even when it’s something like kissing.

After they walked out of the corner, Jiang Jingbai’s distinctively cold face carried a rare smile, albeit light. Although her lips were bitten slightly swollen, it still wasn’t able to hide her obvious smiling expression.

She thought, Jiang Jingbai really did like her.

Or at least, at the time she did.

As to when she started to stop liking her, Yu Xi actually never really realized. She only remembered that Jiang Jingbai became more and more busy. Whenever she looked for her after school ended, she was either going to take additional lessons or going to the library, and if neither of those were enough, she was going home to study.

At the time, she didn’t think that much and only thought that she was very busy. But now thinking about it…

Whenever she looked for her, Tao Yitong would always be next to Jiang Jingbai as well.

Breaking up was unavoidable.

She only didn’t think that the reason would be that hurtful.

The person’s face was filled with revulsion when they broke up, “I’m sorry. I don’t think we’re compatible. I like quiet girls, you’re too noisy.”

She definitely tried to appeal to her afterwards, “Jingbai, if you don’t like it, I can change. I can talk less, I can change it all, okay?”

Jiang Jingbai was indifferent, “I’m sorry, I still don’t think we’re compatible.”

At the time, she already sensed it so she forced herself to ask, “Then who are you compatible with?”

“Tao Yitong?”

Jiang Jingbai fell into silence, not saying anything. However, Yu Xi understood her. From her expression, she could tell that she was giving her a silent agreement.

After she left, she grew really sick so since then from her world, Jiang Jingbai and Tao Yitong disappeared.

And she thought she would never ever see them again either.

Never did she expect the three of them will be reunited.

Yu Xi took a deep breath and noticed that there was a prolonged silence in the room. She turned her head around and saw the two people with complicated expressions on their faces.

Bai Yutang’s expression was complicated because first there was a Yu Xi that came out of the closet in front of everyone, and then now there’s a Tao Yitong. What is it, does she have a special power, the type that specifically attracts gay people?

Her heart felt tired.

Thinking about how in the future if Tao Yitao also comes out with the same type of scandal herself or if the reporters dig up the fact that she’s a lesbian, all she wanted to do right now is to slip away quietly.

Zhong Chen’s expression was complicated because of Yu Xi’s words.

If she remembered correctly, the new boss was Yu Xi’s ex-girlfriend, so if Tao Yitong stole her ex-girlfriend, then wouldn’t that person be the new boss?

No wonder the new boss would poach Tao Yitong over from Xingyao and would even have Bai-jie teach her by hand. It’s because there was there was such a relationship!

The entertainment circle–not only is it messy but it’s also extremely small.

The fact that they can all meet like this, should she advise Xixi to buy a lottery ticket as well?

Each of the three had on a different expression, all thinking about their own things. The room was extremely quiet. The treadmill wasn’t closed yet so as the other two was lost deep in thoughts, Yu Xi already climbed back onto the treadmill again.

It was only half an hour later when one of them finally made a sound.

“Xixi, you’re so pitiful!”

When she turned around, she was met with two pairs of eyes looking at her faintly.

Yu Xi almost slipped off the treadmill.

Around lunchtime, Bai Yutang asked Yu Xi if she wanted to order some takeout. Yu Xi rejected her. She’s already exercised for the entire noon so she was very tired already. She wanted to go home earlier to rest for a little and then go over the script afterwards. Bai Yutang stared at her for a few seconds before she stopped talking.

Yu Xi’s expression was calm, “Bai-jie.”

“I told you the truth not so you could pity me, but because I thought you had the right to know.”

Artistes are typically a transparent existence in front of their managers. Of course, Bai Yutang never requested her to go to that extent, however, if it was something that was needed to be said, Yu Xi herself would not hide it. In the past, she honestly told her the truth of her liking girls, so now, there was an even less need for her to hide something like this.

Bai Yutang smiled, “It’s fine, do I not know what you’re like? But next time whenever these types of situations happen, make sure to tell me about it beforehand.”

Or at least, tell her before she signed the contract.

She’s already signed a contract with Tao Yitong so even if she wanted to transfer her to another manager, it’s already too late.

Yu Xi closed the treadmill and used the towel to wipe clean the sweat on her face. She said, “I just didn’t want you to the lose the chance of managing another artiste because of me.”

Bai Yutang glared at her unhappily, “Only you have this many excuses.”

Looking at her almost-angry appearance, Yu Xi felt her lip corners raise into a smile. The moment she smiled, Bai Yutang lost her all of her anger. If she didn’t, then why would people say that beauty is a privilege? Towards this type of face, no matter how enraged Bai Yutang is, there’s no way she could show it outright.

After pondering over and over again, Bai Yutang pursed her lips, “Forget it. When you head back later with Zhong Chen, be careful and don’t let the paparazzi see you. Although the audition tomorrow is only a mere formality, you know what Director Zhao is like–serious in doing things. So when you go back, remember to look at the script.”

Yu Xi nodded, “Okay, I’ll go and change then.”

“Zhong Chen, help me clean the place up.”

Zhong Chen was still stupefied for a long time before finally returning normal. She responded, “Okay.”

After Yu Xi showered and changed, Zhong Chen already packed everything up and was standing to the side.

Bai Yutang was not in the office anymore. Zhong Chen said she left after receiving a phone call. Yu Xi shrugged, “Let’s go then.”

The two left the office with Zhong Chen following behind Yu Xi diligently with her bag in her hands. She asked, “Xixi, what do you want to eat at lunch? Do you want me to recommend you a new dish?”

Yu Xi’s lip corners twitched.  

It’s all because of her recommendations that caused her to grow four jin. She clenched her teeth, “Not eating, I’m on a diet.”

Zhong Chen felt choked and didn’t say anything. The elevator opened.

Inside the elevator stood two other people.

It was Tao Yitong, the girl who she just met a while ago and was promoted to the status of a mistress in her heart, and Jiang Jingbai, who was just labeled as an unfaithful slag in her heart.

She felt apprehensive, thinking that the world was really small.

Zhong Chen pulled on Yu Xi’s sleeve, “Xixi, why don’t we wait a little?”

Yu Xi smiled lightly, “No need.”

She stepped into the elevator with her high heels and then slightly nodded towards the person standing next to them. Red lips parting, she greeted, “President Jiang.”

Her expression was arrogant and carried an unmatchable coolness and elegance.

Jiang Jingbai inclined her head and looked towards her. Yu Xi looked like she just washed up. Her body was full of a faint fragrance and there were still droplets of water on her neck that wasn’t wiped off yet. Under the light, she emitted a shining luster, like those of first-rate jade.

She had on a light makeup and her facial features looked as if they were finely sculpted, with even her eyebrows appearing exquisite.

It’s only that her complexion was very indifferent.

In Jiang Jingbai’s memory, Yu Xi’s personality was always lively. She had a never-ending stock of jokes, infinite amount of energy, and was always full of surprises.

Back when they were still together, they would never have any awkward moments between the two of them. Even if they didn’t talk, the atmosphere would still be tranquil and warm.

But now, it was completely different.

Jiang Jingbai only looked down, not saying anything. Tao Yitong stood at her side.

When Yu Xi saw Tao Yitong, she was reminded of the words she said in the office. She told Bai Yutang that there was no need because there will be someone to send her back later.

So it turned out that someone was Jiang Jingbai.

So are they together now?

Although whether they are together or not isn’t any of her business, however, the fact that Jiang Jingbai tried to give her a present two days back is truly scum-like if they are.

Indeed, Han Yisi was correct.

She was blind and unlucky in who she liked when she was younger.

There was a moment of silence in the elevator. The first person who took the initiative to speak was Tao Yitong, her face still carrying a gentle smile. Her voice was like normal, “Xixi.”

“What a coincidence, I was just talking about you with Jiang Jingbai.”

“Are you going back right now?”

Hearing her words, Yu Xi gave a light smile, “I am. I’m getting ready to go back right now.”

Hearing Yu Xi losing her killing intent from before in her words, Tao Yitong’s smile deepened, “Do you want to go out and find a place to sit? It’s been a long time since you and Jingbai have met, right?”

Yu Xi raised her head, “It hasn’t been long, only two days.”

“Did President Jiang not tell you that she visited my friend just two days ago?”

Tao Yitong’s smile froze for a second before quickly returning to normal, “Is it Han Yisi? I haven’t seen her in a long time as well. Let’s all find a different day and meet up for a get-together.”

Yu Xi’s lip corners twitched, “No need.”

“Sisi’s very busy, so she doesn’t have any free time to meet up with irrelevant people.”

Standing next to Yu Xi, Zhong Chen’s head was lowered. Her hands were clenched together praying: the first floor, the first floor, the first floor!

The heavens heard her prayer and the elevator smoothly reached the first floor very quick. Yu Xi took the initiative to step out of the elevator with her high heels and Zhong Chen hurriedly followed behind.

Before they took two steps, a voice came from behind her, “Yu Xi.”

Even without turning around, Yu Xi could tell that it was Jiang Jingbai’s voice. She looked back and glanced at her. She asked forcefully, “Does President Jiang have any other instructions for me?”

Jiang Jingbai walked over to her side and held out her hand, “Your bag.”

Seeing her holding her bag, Yu Xi looked towards Zhong Chen.

Zhong Chen swallowed and blinked her eyes. When she was praying, she put it on the floor and forgot to pick it back up. Yu Xi took the bag, “Thank you.”

While grabbing the bag, their hands were about to touch. Jiang Jingbai’s fingers were slim and long, her joints clear, and her nails trimmed clean and round, showing that it had obviously been carefully maintained. Yu Xi stared at her hands, thinking about how this pair of hands have touched Tao Yitong’s body. Her expression turned even colder to some degree.

Jiang Jingbai pulled her hand back and in a shallow voice, asked, “Let’s have lunch together.”  

Yu Xi looked up, a chill penetrating her voice, “No need, I don’t like being a third wheel.”

After speaking, she didn’t give Jiang Jingbai a chance to say anything else before directly finishing with a, “Goodbye, President Jiang.”  

Jiang Jingbai watched Yu Xi walk out of the company with her high heels tapping with every step. It wasn’t before long, she placed her bag in her assistant’s hand. Seemingly ordering her to do something, her assistant’s expression was complicated. A few seconds later, the assistant entered the company and threw the bag into the trashcan with a very reluctant expression.

Even though they were very far away, Jiang Jingbai still understood what Yu Xi said from reading her lips.

She said.

The bag’s dirty now.
